About photosbypike

The two most viewed galleries that vistors view on this site are those from Charlotte and Linville Falls.  I wanted to be a photographer after my first trip into a wet darkroom, while serving in Germany with the 21st Infantry way back in 1959. I even had a talk with the Re-up Sgt at the bottom of a foxhole about going to photoschool after my tour in Nam. We were actually being shot at during this time at the bottom of the foxhole. When he told me no, I said well, I am going to leave the Army after my tour. During the years I have worked in engineering, but always kept a hand in photography. I worked my day job, and then spent the weekends working for two weekly newspapers. My work has been published in The Christian Science Monitor (a special on N.C.), Our State magazine (about N.C.), Blue Ridge Country magazine, Cat Fancy, Country Extra and in photo contest in The Charlotte, Observer. This site serves three groups. First tourism. Anyone looking at places to visit in N.C. can preview many different towns and tourist spots, from the mountains to the sea. Second photographers who just like to look at pictures. Most of the photographs are taken with Nikon cameras except where I had a small P&S while in Vietnam and now a m 4/3 camera. And the third group are publishers who may have a need for stock photography.
This web site is to serve magazine and book publishers. You will find a growing number of images here, as I will continue to add photographs to these pages. I live in Charlotte, NC, the 7th fastest growing city in the USA, so that gallery is going to get much larger. I am just a few hours away from "The Blue Ridge Parkway", a designated All-American Road, so there are many pictures from along this beautiful part of the country. Be sure to check out the gallery of coastal areas, which include photographs of some of N.C. lighthouses. Your also going to find picture of many of the smaller towns from the mountains to the coast. And while most of this work is going to be from North Carolina, there will be other galleries from other places as well. Have a need for a future issue ofyour magazine? Contact me, and I may be able to make a trip to gather photographs that I then can submit on speculation.
